Debbie Burke

Debbie Burke is the author of twelve books, including three novels and nine nonfiction books about jazz, fine art, and publishing. She has been traditionally published and is now a self-published author. She has won many awards for her books and received honorable mention for her short stories, as well as having earned international praise for her author blog.

She is a career writer and editor, having been a news reporter, three-time columnist, and the editor of a regional lifestyle magazine and business journal. She is a member of the (US) Authors Guild,  ALLi (Alliance of Independent Authors), the Authors Guild of Tennessee, Virginia Beach Writers, Write On! Nonfiction Group, the Jazz Journalists Association, the Chesapeake Bay Art Association, ACES: The Society for Editing, EFA (Editorial Freelancers Association), and a mentor for the Greater Norfolk  Corporation. She also serves as an online writing tutor at Wyzant and is a volunteer for the Mamie Eisenhower Library Project.

Originally from Brooklyn, NY, she has lived in six different states in the eastern half of the US and most of all, loves the ocean. She lives in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia.
