Next Meeting of the Authors Guild of Tennessee

March 7th, 2024

The Authors Guild of Tennessee will be meeting on March 7 at the Faith Lutheran Church in Farragut beginning with a social time at 10:30 a.m. The business meeting is scheduled from 11:00 a.m. to noon.

Our special speaker will be AGT member Gayle Curtin.

Gayle worked for more than 40 years in the insurance industry. She earned a Masters degree in Education from Colorado State University. In her book, My Thoughts Exactly! Essays on General Liability Underwriting, she used her 20-year experience of taking underwriting referrals and auditing  files to write about risk analysis and the art of thinking.

At the AGT meeting, Gayle will be speaking about writing blogs including the following: her process for writing blog posts, tips for improving engagement, ways to publish, distribute, and market, and the benefits of blogging.

Gayle’s blogs are posted at gibsongritcreations.com/blog under the title “On Second Thought.” Two of her recent blogs are titled “What do you hear when you listen to yourself?” and “What is muscle memory?”

As an accomplished blogger, Gayle’s talk promises to be informative and inspirational. Guests are always welcome.

“Meet the Author” with Deana Charcalla

AGT member Deana Charcalla will be appearing as the guest author at two “Meet the Author” events the first week in March at schools in the area of West Virginia where she grew up. On March 6, she will be at Montcalm Elementary School in Montcalm. On March 7, she will be at the Lashmeet School in her hometown of Matoka, West Virginia.

Deana was invited to the Lashmeet School by the daughter of her favorite teacher from fourth grade who fostered Deana’s love of reading by letting her select her books from a recommended list.

Deana will be speaking and reading aloud from some of her books to the assembly of all the students in the first through sixth grades in both schools. After her talk, Deana will answer questions and offer her books for sale to the parents of the children.
