New Release by Russell Fine

Quest For Power

It was two years before the presidential election, and    William Grissom, the richest man in the United States,  decided that he also wanted power. He was sure his wealthy friends felt the same way, so hosted a meeting with the twenty-five richest people in the world to ask them to finance the presidential campaign of a socialist-leaning politician they could control with money. Once the U.S. became a socialist country they were sure the rest of the world would follow. That would guarantee their continued wealth and give them the political power they craved. Twenty-four of the people he invited attended the meeting. They agreed with his plan, and each of them made an initial contribution of $20,000,000 to the campaign fund. A candidate was chosen and they put their plan in motion. It appeared the plan would prove to be successful. But sometimes, no matter how meticulously you plan, something can still go wrong.

Creative Writing Contest

Lenoir City High School

2nd Semester 2023-24

In the second semester of the 2023-4 school year, Angela Crabtree, teacher of the junior/senior writing classes at Lenoir City High School, selected poetry as the literary form for the Creative Writing Contest sponsored by the Authors Guild of Tennessee.

The first- and second-place winners in Ms. Crabtree’s two classes are linked under this notice. Again, the students were not assigned particular subjects but were encouraged to write from their personal experiences and viewpoints. The poems are honest and personal and sometimes reflect harsh realities in each student’s life. They are all well-written and create word pictures of place and time.

The Authors Guild of Tennessee is proud to publish these outstanding literary accomplishments on our website with parental consent for students who are minors.

Murder in Tellico Village

Tour operator Alex Trotter visits her Aunt Beth in the retirement community of Tellico Village to help out after Beth’s knee replacement surgery. Two days after her arrival, Alex learns of the murder of a neighbor lady, Helen, whose daughter, Dorothy, has been arrested for the crime.

Alex had met the accused when Dorothy was buying slipper socks for her mother in the local pharmacy the day before the woman was murdered. Alex believes Dorothy’s purchase of the Snoozies slippers is evidence she couldn’t be the killer. She takes it upon herself to investigate, which includes looking into the contentious TVA actions that led to the development of Tellico Village. Can past history shed any light on who committed the present-day murder?
