Savannah LeBlanc lived with her parents in a badly rundown old house on River Road in South Louisiana, just a few miles upriver from New Orleans.  Her father never held a job, but somehow the family got by.  He had Alzheimer’s and was delusional near the end, often rambling on incoherently about his great fortune.  After his death, Savannah discovers treasures everywhere! Her father was telling the truth!  Where did these assets come from?  If it was legal, why did her father hide it?  Was he a drug smuggler?  Thief?  Illegal arms dealer?  Would her life be in danger if she tried to find out?

Her search for the truth takes her back five generations of her family history to pre-Civil War Louisiana, when her house (a once grand plantation mansion) was first built.  As she solves one mystery about the family wealth, another puzzle pops up!  And another and another!  We follow the ancestors’ stories from Europe to America and back to Europe again, solving the mysteries and finding the last of the hidden treasures.
